Context design and critical language/media awareness: Implications for a social digital literacies education

Our starting point is the growing concern around role of Facebook in spreading (dis)information and polarising political opinion, subsequent debates need for enhanced critical digital literacies. The article reports on a study which drew elicited data from users to explore their awareness communicative norms social networks shaping use site. analysis makes two key contributions. Firstly, we theorise connection between our interviewees’ online practices language/media through concept context design, explains dynamic ways people frame interactions, based unfolding understandings space. Secondly, tackling issues disinformation polarisation, highlight literacies programmes at higher education institutes, typically focus information literacies, take account or interpersonal nature much contemporary internet use.
